


The Onam celebration for 2025 was held on Sunday, September 7th at Kammana, organized with great enthusiasm by the Kadathanadan Kalari Foundation. This year’s festivities brought together over 300 participants from the local community, making it a vibrant and memorable occasion for all ages. The event was led by Foundation Directors Thomas Gurukkal, Sajeev Kumar Gurukkal, and Nishad Gurukkal, with the support of MS Ganesh Gurukkal, CK Sreejith Gurukkal, Pavithran Gurukkal, Manoj Gurukkal, and Sreeji Gurukkal, whose dedicated efforts ensured a seamless and joyful celebration.



A wide array of competitions and traditional games were organized for both children and adults, fostering a sense of unity and friendly rivalry. Highlights included classic Kerala sports such as tug-of-war, uriyadi (pot breaking), musical chairs, balloon popping, and sack racing, which captivated the audience and brought out the competitive spirit in participants. The beautiful floral arrangement (Pookalam) created for the occasion was a visual delight and drew special attention from all attendees, reflecting the artistic traditions of Onam.
A sumptuous Onam Sadya, the traditional vegetarian feast served on banana leaves, was enjoyed by everyone, reinforcing the festival’s message of inclusivity and togetherness. The meal featured a variety of authentic Kerala dishes, allowing guests to experience the rich culinary heritage of the region.
Onam, celebrated as Kerala’s grandest festival, is a symbol of unity, harmony, and cultural pride. The festival commemorates the legendary homecoming of King Mahabali and serves as a reminder of equality, peace, and prosperity for all. Through vibrant rituals, communal feasts, and joyful games, the Onam celebration at Kammana this year truly embodied the spirit of togetherness and cultural preservation, leaving lasting memories for everyone involved
