In Mananthavady’s lush highlands, 150 children are experiencing authentic kalari training through a groundbreaking initiative by Buimerc India Foundation and Kadathanadan Kalari Foundation. This program preserves Kerala’s 5,000-year-old kalaripayattu tradition while empowering underprivileged youth.
Expert Kalari Training for the Next Generation
The prestigious Buimerc India Foundation and Kadathanadan Kalari Foundation have launched this transformative initiative with a ceremonial inauguration blessed by Padma Shri laureate Meenakshi Gurukkal on April 24, 2025. Participants 150 children under 15 years from Mananthavady, Ambalavayal, and Onchiyam receive comprehensive 30-day kalari training completely free of charge

Beyond Physical Mastery
“Kalaripayattu shapes not just the body, but the entire being,” explains R. Balachandran, Chairman of Buimerc India Foundation. “We’ve designed a holistic program that cultivates discipline, emotional resilience, and practical wisdom these children will carry throughout life.”
“Disciplined kalari training empowers children to develop the mental strength and self-confidence needed to resist peer pressure and drug temptations while instilling the warrior spirit that motivates them to pursue healthier, more purposeful life goals”. Says K.F. Thomas Gurukkal
Premium Kalaripayattu Instruction from Kerala’s Masters
Students benefit from expert instruction by our directors—K.F. Thomas Gurukkal, K.K. Sajeev Kumar Gurukkal, and T.N. Nishad Gurukkal. Participants witness breathtaking demonstrations by virtuosos M.S. Ganesh Gurukkal and T.G. Vijin Gurukkal, whose fluid movements showcase the art’s perfect harmony of power and grace.

The curriculum features authentic combat techniques, mental conditioning, and traditional healing practices essential to comprehensive kalari training.
As demonstrated during the ceremonial opening, kalaripayattu’s combination of powerful strikes, fluid movements, and meditative focus provides these young warriors with valuable skills for both self-defense and personal development.
This initiative exemplifies the Foundation’s and Bumeric Foundation’s commitment to preserving its martial arts traditions while making professional kalari training accessible to all children, regardless of economic background.
